03/ Interwoven Stages

Shaping stories through space

Statement

Interwoven Stages is a cultural venue showcasing classical and contemporary performances in downtown San Francisco. Inspired by Bridget Riley's For Genji, the design translates visual rhythm into a tectonic language, shaping a dynamic architectural experience. The interplay of shifting planes and volumes defines the theatre's spatial composition, responding to both the public and urban context. The building's design emphasizes movement through offset rooms and layered spaces, creating a fluid and immersive environment. This spatial rhythm enhances the connection between visitors, performers, and the surrounding city, making the cineplex a vibrant cultural landmark.
